Student Credit Cards

Student Credit card offers are specifically designed for people in high school or college. Often students have limited exposure to credit and may have “no credit” Although there are no marks on their credit score it is still low. This is because credit scores must be “built”. Student cards are offered to allow these scores to be built. Prepaid cards and regular credit cards are available.

Many students cards have no annual fee. Cards often start with an introductory interest rate and then a moderate level APR is applied. For student cards customer service is important, credit cards can be confusing for first time users and access to information and assistance is important.

Some cards also require a minimum monthly income while others do not. Also any student cards do not charge a fee for balance transfers.

Reward programs are available for student cards and can be very beneficial. Some even offer rewards on textbook purchases. Another offer gives bonus points for maintaining a good GPA.
